High-paying jobs on decline in metro Atlanta
The Atlanta area's high-paying jobs are declining and its low-paying jobs are increasing. That's one of the trends in Regional Snapshot, an Atlanta Regional Commission report that comes out Thursday. The report also says the 10-county population increase of 70,200 this year is the lowest since 2003, and is 16 percent lower than the annual average for the decade.

Korean dry cleaners in Atlanta sue gas marketer
Cheesy pun first: A group of Korean dry cleaners claim to have been taken to the cleaners by their gas marketer. But the local dry cleaners are serious. They filed a federal lawsuit against Florida-based Infinite Energy this week, saying the marketer exploited the short-term price spike that followed 2005's Hurricane Katrina to lock them into long-term contracts at an inflated price. It says Infinite misled and scared its customers about the cause and likely duration of the post-storm surge in wholesale gas prices. Infinite denied any wrongdoing and said it had helped its customers save money.

The banks must also issue quarterly progress reports to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the state Department of Banking and Finance. The separate agreements were made public Wednesday.

Wendy's/Arby's moving 120 jobs to Atlanta from Ohio
The Wendy's/Arby's Group said Wednesday it expects to relocate at least 120 jobs to Atlanta from Ohio for its corporate support center. Wendy's, based in Dublin, Ohio, and Atlanta-based Triarc, the parent company of Arby's, completed in September a merger to create Atlanta-based Wendy's/Arby's Group. When the deal was announced in April, Triarc and Wendy's said a support center would be created in Atlanta to handle public company responsibilities and shared services. The headquarters and restaurant support staff for the Wendy's brand will stay in Ohio.

Delta ends fees for window, exit row seats
Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines has discontinued a program launched last month to charge a $5 to $25 fee for some window, aisle and exit row seats. Delta pulled back the program after its elite SkyMiles Medallion frequent fliers complained en masse. Delta returned to its original preferred seating system to allow Medallion members to book any preferred seats at booking for free, though merger partner Northwest is retaining its existing Coach Choice program. Delta said it is reviewing introducing a modified program to charge for a choice seat in coach class while still offering Medallion members their preferred seats.
